OASIS TOOLING
EXPANDS OASIS TECHNOLOGY OFFERING: integrates
encryption, vlsi layout Database, access to cell
broadband
Alamo, California –
July 17 2006
–
Oasis Tooling today announced significant expansion of
its OASIS
verification and acceptance technology. The additions
include
encryption technology, VLSI-layout database technology,
and porting and acceleration algorithms for the new CELL
Broadband Engine processor in the OASIS C++/C API
stack. The capabilities are unique in the industry and
provide access to processor technology not currently
available to commercial EDA tools flows.
Partial-selective
encryption technology uses OASIS CBLOCK records to
encrypt arbitrarily encapsulated sets of data records
within an OASIS layout file. A partially encrypted OASIS
data file can be read and re-written by any compliant
OASIS reader and writer, without decryption, before any
OASIS-enabled operation. All or portions of encrypted
data are accessible by EDA tools with the decryption
code. Any encountered encrypted data is read over
gracefully except for syntax checking. The overhead to
decrypt portions of a data file on the fly typically
does not exceed 5% of total run time.
OASIS Layout Database
Technology
The OASIS VLSI layout
database technology offers OASIS computational
facilities for various design operations running on top
of the new database. The database is driven by some of
the low-level primitives defined by the new SEMI OASIS
format replacing the GDSII data structure, dropping the
size of VLSI databases by an order of magnitude. OASIS
databases accelerate the OASIS Stream In/Out flow by a
similar order of magnitude.
"Oasis Tooling took
advantage of an optional file-level property of OASIS
data called Repetitions, an approach to building OASIS
data structure that will dominate the future use of
OASIS," said Tom Grebinski, president and CEO of Oasis
Tooling. "A repetition-based OASIS implementation is
more difficult to implement but, once done, has
significant long-term performance and scaling advantages
over other approaches offered by OASIS."
Using the richer palette of
repetitions offered by OASIS accelerates many
computational geometry design and mask programs by as
much as 5-200X. Low-level OASIS primitives can be
embedded by code in device architecture and hardware
systems as well which accelerates the manipulation of
data deeper into the tools using computational geometry.
The new database gracefully handles trapezoid
recognition as part of the data structure as well.
The database technology
ports to open-source layout database technology as well
as the more advanced legacy layout databases already
working at 64-bit. The company offers the technology and
the means to quickly migrate to the newer OASIS data
structure from the legacy GDSII layout data structure.
OASIS and CELL Broadband
Engine Architecture
Porting the Oasis Tooling
OASIS C++/C API stack for the new CELL Broadband Engine
anticipates the broad availability of this architecture
and the release of the capabilities offered by the new
OASIS format.
Oasis Tooling configures
the CELL Broadband Engine to detect and digest OASIS
constructs with few transformations and computations
during geometrical processing. This will improve CELL
hardware performance for applications using
computational geometry, such as DRC, MRC, aerial
imaging, CMP density fill, fracturing, 2-D rendering and
model-based OPC by an order of magnitude over existing
device architecture used for advanced computing, such as
FPGAs and custom processors.
